Recruiting Area
Was firmly located in Lanarkshire, Glasgow and Dumfries & Galloway.

Summary
Formed more than 300 years ago and with a remarkable military history, the Cameronians originated in perhaps the most unusual circumstances of any in the British Army. They are the only regiment which has a religious foundation, tracing back to the years of political and religious strife of the 1680s. The regiment is an amalgamtion of the 26th Cameronian Regiment and the 90th Perthshire Light Infantry who were joined together (albeit reluctantly) in the Army reforms of 1881.

As a result of more army reforms in 1968, the Cameronians chose to disband rather than amalgamate.
